Why GCs & Contractors Rent in Bulk

Six Jobsite Situations Where Contractors Need Extinguishers Fast

Every contractor running a commercial project hits the same six situations. Rental gets you compliant fast — without locking up capital in extinguishers you'll only need for a six-month build. Here's where we ship to most often.

Scenario 1

OSHA 1926.150 Jobsite Compliance

OSHA requires fire extinguishers within 100 feet of work areas on construction sites. Inspector showed up early? We can ship 20+ units this week — ABC 10lb, mounting brackets, inspection tags all included.

Scenario 2

Hot Work & Welding Permits

Welding, cutting, grinding, or torch work means a hot-work permit — and most permits require fire extinguishers within arm's reach of the operation. Daily-use rental units sized for hot-work compliance, shipped fast.

Scenario 3

Roofing Project Fire Watch

Torch-down roofing, kettle work, and propane operations all require on-site extinguishers per NFPA 241. We supply roofing crews across the Southeast with rental ABC and water units sized for kettle and torch operations.

Scenario 4

Temporary Occupancy & CO Prep

Pre-CO walkthrough is Friday. The building owner needs temporary occupancy approval. Rental units cover the gap between "construction site" and "permanent extinguisher install" — no scrambling at inspection.

Scenario 5

Multi-Phase Build Coverage

Phase 1 needs 12 units, Phase 2 needs 24, Phase 3 needs 8. Rental scales with your project schedule — no warehousing extinguishers you'll only need for three months. Return when the phase closes out.

Scenario 6

Failed Inspection Replacement

Fire marshal flagged expired tags, wrong type, or insufficient quantity. CO is on the line. Call before noon — we can ship certified, tagged replacement units the same day in most cases.

How Many Rental Units for Your Project?

The most common question on a bulk rental call: how many units do I actually need? Final count always comes down to your fire marshal, OSHA jobsite layout, and NFPA 241 travel-distance rules — but these are the rough ranges we quote contractors on the phone every week.

Every rental extinguisher arrives fully serviced, pressure-checked, and tagged with current inspection date. Ready to pass OSHA, fire marshal, and insurance walkthroughs the moment they hit your site.

Direct shipment to your jobsite address — no warehouse pickup required. UPS, FedEx, or LTL freight depending on order size. We coordinate delivery windows around your crew schedule when needed.

5

OSHA, NFPA & Fire Marshal Code on Construction Sites

Most jobsite citations on fire extinguisher scope come down to four things — wrong quantity, wrong placement, expired tags, or wrong type for the hazard. The code is specific. Here's the short version OSHA inspectors and fire marshals actually quote during walkthroughs.

Row of certified, tagged fire extinguishers ready for jobsite OSHA compliance

OSHA 1926.150 — 100 Foot Travel Rule

OSHA requires at least one fire extinguisher rated 2A or higher within 100 feet of every work area on a construction site. High-hazard operations require closer spacing. This drives the baseline quantity on almost every commercial jobsite.

NFPA 241 — Hot Work Fire Watch

Welding, cutting, torch, and grinding operations require fire extinguishers within arm's reach of the operator per NFPA 241 hot-work fire watch rules. Roofing kettle operations and torch-down work fall under the same requirement.

Current-Date Inspection Tags

Every rental unit ships with a current-dated NFPA 10 inspection tag. Expired tags fail inspection immediately — no inspector accepts "we just got them" as a defense. Tag dates are checked on every walkthrough.

Correct Hazard Class

Construction sites are Class A hazard by default — but welding stations need BC or ABC, paint operations need clean agent or ABC, and temporary kitchens require K-class. Wrong type on the wall is the same citation as no extinguisher at all.

Mounting Height & Visibility

Extinguishers must be mounted with the operating handle no higher than 5 feet for units 40lb or less, and clearly visible from anywhere in the work area. Brackets must be secured to structural surfaces — not propped against scaffolding.

Contractor Questions, Answered

Bulk Fire Extinguisher Rental FAQ for GCs & Project Managers

How fast can you ship rental units to my jobsite?

In-stock rental orders ship the same week — most go out within 1 to 2 business days of confirmed quote. UPS and FedEx Ground typically deliver in 1 to 3 business days across the Southeast. LTL freight for large pallet orders runs 2 to 5 business days. If you have a hard inspection date or CO walkthrough on the calendar, tell us at quote time and we'll confirm a delivery window before you cut the PO.

Is there a minimum order quantity?

No. We ship orders from 4 units up to 400+ units. Small-crew roofing jobs and full hotel construction phases both work — we don't push minimum quantities. Most contractor calls we take are in the 8 to 40 unit range. Larger phased projects can run on staggered deliveries sized to your construction schedule.

What rental terms are available?

Weekly, monthly, and full-project terms — no rigid 30-day minimums. Most jobsites run on monthly or phase-based terms. Multi-phase builds can scale unit counts up or down between phases. Call us with your construction calendar and we'll size the rental term and quantity to match.

What's included in the rental price?

Every rental unit ships with the extinguisher itself (fully certified and tagged with current inspection date), the correct mounting bracket, and the NFPA 10 inspection tag. Drop-ship freight to your jobsite is quoted separately and depends on order size and destination. End-of-term pickup is coordinated by us — no return-shipping logistics on your end.

Where do you ship rentals?

We ship bulk rentals throughout the Southeast — Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. Florida construction sites get the fastest turnaround. Out-of-region projects can be quoted on request — call to confirm freight cost and timing.

What if a fire marshal or OSHA inspector flags my jobsite?

Call us with the citation. Failed-inspection turnarounds are routine — most jobsite extinguisher issues can be resolved with same-day shipment of certified, tagged replacement units. Tell us the citation specifics (quantity, type, placement) and we'll match what the inspector requires. Most contractors are back to compliance within 48 hours.

Can I rent ABC, K-class, water, and clean agent in the same order?

Yes. Most bulk rental orders are mixed — ABC for general jobsite coverage, K-class for any temporary kitchen, water for kettle/roofing operations, and clean agent for electrical or sensitive equipment areas. We stock all four classes plus Class D for metal-fire applications and wheeled units for industrial coverage.

What happens if a rental unit gets discharged or damaged on site?

Discharged or damaged units are handled per the rental agreement — replacement units can ship same-day if you need the coverage back fast. Damaged-unit fees are spelled out upfront in the quote so there are no surprises at term end. Recharge after discharge is part of what we do anyway — happy to handle it.

Can I extend the rental if my project runs long?

Yes — and most multi-phase commercial projects do extend at some point. Call us before the term ends and we'll extend at the prevailing weekly or monthly rate. No re-quoting paperwork, no new account setup. We'd rather extend than chase pickup on a project that's still active.

How do I open a contractor rental account?

Call (727) 620-3473 or use the quote form at the bottom of this page. Send the unit count, project duration, and jobsite address — we'll quote pricing and freight within the same business hour. New contractor accounts typically open in a single phone call.
